Thank you to everyone who has supported our growing coalition over the last couple of weeks as we fight for a transparent and public process for the naming of the new Concord middle school. We appreciate all the emails, letters of support and public calls for the new school to be named after Ellen Garrison, but above all, we hope to have a public discussion around the naming of the new building. Ellen's inspirational story continues to resonate in today's Concord.

The Robbins House was turned into a film set over

The Robbins House was turned into a film set over the weekend for Half The History's Ellen Garrison short film. Tuft University's Half the History group and The Robbins House are collaborating on a short film on the life of Ellen Garrison. The film is funded in part from a Mass Humanities grant that was awarded to us this spring. Stay tuned.

Come visit The Robbins House during the last weekend of the season. The weather on Saturday is perfect for an outing to the house. We are open 11-4 pm on both Saturday and Sunday.

The Bottle Tree has arrived at The Robbins House!

The Bottle Tree has arrived at The Robbins House!

The museum is hosting a bottle tree installation from October 2023-April 2024.

Originating in the Congo in West Africa and dating back to at least the ninth century, the bottle tree tradition was brought to the United states by enslaved people. This tradition was passed down through generations of enslaved and, later, free Black communities, marking the survival of a cultural practice despite the bonds of slavery. The distinctive blue bottles were placed on tree limbs to capture the energy, spirit and memories of ancestors. Come and visit the bottle tree on the front lawn as we honor the legacy of self-emancipation so central to the stories of the Robbins and Garrison families. Stay tuned for more programming around the installation.

Today is the 60th anniversary of the 16th Street bombing in Birmingham, Alabama. In honor of the 4 little girls senselessly killed by the KKK, we joined with other groups around the country in ringing a bell in their memory. #4littlegirls
