Making Masks for Chelsea, COVID Hotspot

Please send to: Chelsea Collaborative, Inc., 318 Broadway, Chelsea, MA 02150-2808

The City of Chelsea has the highest incidence rate of COVID-19 cases in all of Massachusetts, with 2,598 confirmed cases of COVID, a rate of 6897.72 per 100,000 as of May 20th.

According to the Boston Globe, it is a community largely of immigrants — mostly Latino, many of them without legal status — the most economically vulnerable, and many having limited access to health care and other public support networks. Chelsea is a densely populated community, and most residents live in overcrowded housing.
The Chelsea Collaborative is bringing food and supplies to families, supporting residents facing evictions, and disseminating critical information about the COVID-19. Read more about their emergency response efforts here.
Members of The Robbins House board are making masks to send to the Chelsea Collaborative, Inc. If you would like to join our efforts, please send your masks to the address above.

Homemade mask directions and patterns can be found here:

Robbins house resident Ellen Garrison said at the start of the Civil War, “I think it is our duty as a people to spend our lives in trying to elevate our own race. Who can feel for us if we do not feel for ourselves? … I feel as though there is much work to be done, and I would like to do my share.
