All That She Carried: A Conversation with Tiya Miles

2021 @ 7:00 pm - 8:00 pm

June 22, 2021 • 7:00 PM—8:00 PM • Suggested ticket: $5.00

Join MacArthur “Genius” Fellow and Harvard University Professor Tiya Miles as she discusses her new book, All That She Carried: The Journey of Ashley’s Sack, a Black Family Keepsake, a story about women, mothers, and daughters, who chose the profundity of love over dehumanizing condition.  At the heart of this moving tale is a rough cotton bag, given by an enslaved woman named Rose to her daughter, Ashley, before their forced separation.

Donations are encouraged to support the Concord Museum’s Education initiatives. This program is supported in part by the Sally Lanagan Fund.  Co-sponsored by The Robbins House and the Royall House and Slave Quarters.

This program coincides with the special exhibition Every Path Laid Open: Women of Concord and the Quest for Equality.  Book your timed-entry ticket to visit the exhibition at concordmuseum.org.
