The Robbins House Celebrates Second Annual Juneteenth in Concord
Saturday, June 15th • The Robbins House
Juneteenth, the combination of “June” and “nineteenth,” was first celebrated on June 19, 1865 when Union troops arrived in Texas to announce the end of slavery in the United States. For the second year, we’ve celebrated Juneteenth with public historian Elon Cook Lee reenacting Ellen Garrison Jackson, who was teaching newly freed people in Maryland in 1865.
