Ellen Garrison Reads Her Letters
TRH consultant and Ellen Garrison re-enactor Elon Cook Lee read from the letters of Concord’s Civil Rights activist. Born in the Robbins House in 1823, Ellen was an African American educator who wrote and spoke out against the social injustices of her time, reaching out to those who could help bring justice and be allies in a time of radical change. She was the first to apply our country’s Civil Rights Bill of 1866 in court.
